PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES:

What can YOU do?

Work is fundamental to our lives. It means so much more than a paycheck — it offers purpose and the opportunity to lead an independent, self-directed life for all people, including people with disabilities.

People with disabilities have the skills to pursue meaningful careers and play an important role in America’s educational and economic success. In fact, experience with disability can offer a competitive edge when it comes to work. If you are a person with a disability, only you can define your own limitations. High expectations are essential to success. Organizations exist that can help you seek employment, identify the tools you need to be productive on the job, and understand your right to be evaluated on your ability, not disability. Because after all, at work it’s what people can do that matters.

Tell us what YOU can do!
If you are a person with a disability, we’d like to hear from you.

Please take a moment to share information about your job skills and talents. Your story will increase employers’ awareness of the talents and skills that people with disabilities contribute to the workplace and help challenge misconceptions about disability and employment.

I can do just about anything. I am a people person. I do good at jobs involving customers. I can type on a computer. I can organize papers and files. The only thing my visual imparement stops me from doing is driving.

Many of us have spent years looking for an open door. Some years ago, before disability, I was able to move from land surveyor to traffic engineering to project management with mostly OTJ skill development. I, many of us, now have no resume, but are the Able Disabled and still have those skill sets and still can, if you'll just open the door and let us in!

I can contribute my skills and experience to a landscape, irrigation or lawn maintenance company; I have over 20 years of experience in the field. I am organized, willing to learn new procedures, follow instructions and I like working with and meeting new people.

I have two associates degrees.. one in paralegal studies in which legal research I excel in and I would love to utilize this for an employer in the legal field. I also have one degree in general studies which was to build on my certificate in eldercare specialist, but I need employment to entertain furthering any educational journey.

type over 100 WPM, edit video, edit audio (though that's a challenge for someone as legally deaf as I am), and proofread.
